James L. Hunter (CEO)

Jim is the former President and CEO of Mackenzie Financial Corporation. During his 13 year tenure at Mackenzie, Jim led the development of many of the top innovations in Canada’s mutual fund industry. Under Jim’s strategic direction and management, Mackenzie grew from just under $8 billion to $46 billion in assets under management and evolved to the multi-faceted investment management and financial services corporation it is today. Prior to his tenure at Mackenzie, Jim was a partner in Deloitte & Touche’s financial services practice in Toronto.
Laurie Munro (President)
BBA, MBA
Laurie has worked in a variety of sales, marketing and general management roles over a 27 year career, with the most recent 15 years spent at Mackenzie Financial Corporation. He is a former Executive Vice President at Mackenzie as well as a former President and CEO of Mackenzie’s wholly owned subsidiaries, the MRS Group of Companies. Laurie has extensive experience successfully distributing products and services through the independent financial advisor channel.
Patrick Lincoln (EVP, Legal)
BA, LLB, BCL
Pat has over 15 years experience serving the financial services industry. He was a partner in one of Canada’s premier law firms serving the mutual fund industry. In 1996, Pat left private practice to become a founding partner and Director of Cartier Partners Limited Partnership. That initiative culminated in the formation of a national dealer organization having over 3,500 independent advisors and $15 billion in assets under administration.
Moira Saganski (EVP, Fund Administration and CFO)
MBA, MTax, CFA
Moira has worked as a senior executive officer in the investment industry for over 20 years. Moira was the President and CEO of the MRS Group of Companies during the 1990’s. She also developed the administrative processes for the fund industry’s first deferred load products and partnerships at Mackenzie Financial Corporation and has a long list of other fund industry firsts to her credit.
Jeff Young (Vice President, Investments)
CFA, MBA
Jeff has over 12 years experience in the financial services industry. He has held both client focused and analytical roles and worked in the banking, trust, high net worth discretionary management and absolute return sectors of the industry. Jeff is a graduate of the inaugural cohort of the SFU Global Asset and Wealth Management MBA program and was a Co-Recipient of the 2004 Barclays Global Investors Canada Research Award.
Jackie Laser (Vice President, Operations)
B.Comm
Jackie has 17 years experience in the industry working with Mackenzie Financial Corporation in a variety of operational roles. During the past four years she held the position of Assistant Vice-President, Client Services and was responsible for leading the front-line management of the department. She also held other management positions within Dealer Relations and Operations during her tenure at Mackenzie. Jackie has been a member of various industry committees and working groups and is currently a member of the Mandatory Standards Committee at FundSERV. She was also a board member on the Mackenzie Charitable Foundation.
Abe Goenka (COO)
CA, CFA
Abe has ten years experience in the financial services industry in various analytical and advisory roles. Prior to joining NexGen, he worked at CIBC World Markets in the Trading Room Controllers group analyzing derivative and structured product transactions. Abe has also spent four years in the assurance and advisory group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP focused on financial services clients.
John Stacey (Director, Taxation)
FCA
John was associated with Deloitte & Touche LLP, chartered accountants, for over 30 years. Having obtained his CA with the Canadian firm, in 1972 he joined Revenue Canada in Ottawa to work in the Tax Legislation Branch and on budgetary tax amendments with the Department of Finance. In 1980 John returned to Deloitte in Toronto as a partner in the Tax practice. From 1990-1995 he led the firm’s Tax practice as the National Director, Tax Services and then was the Managing Partner for the Greater Toronto Area for four years. Throughout his career with Deloitte, John provided tax advice to a wide variety of Canadian and multi national businesses and also pursued new areas of business for the firm, including in more recent times the development and leadership of the firm’s Tax Risk Management services.
